Beach Cities Christmas Festivals

Covid concerns have really made it difficult on South Bayans to celebrate the season. However, while some events have been cancelled some continue on. Like the 23rd Annual Peninsula Parade of Lights this past weekend.

Some of the events from 2019 and prior years like:

  • SOUTH BAY HOLIDAY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS.
  • Manhattan Beach Open House & Pier Lighting.
  • Riviera Village Holiday Stroll.
  • Redondo Beach Santa Float.
  • Manhattan Beach Santa Float.
  • Sleepy Hollow Christmas Lights Extravaganza.
  • Holiday Homes Tour by Sandpipers.
  • Sleepy Hollow Fun Run.

Have been parsed back.

Santa Clause in Torrance and Manhattan Beach has been cancelled while other cities are still undecided at press.

It is sadly not worth publishing what seems to be still scheduled as it is questionable if they will be able to continue plans in light of recent restrictions.
It appears that Torrance Sleepy Hollow is open for traffic. Although recent regulations may slow it down a bit.

A Daily Breeze report on Nov. 12th reported that in Seaside Ranchos, the Torrance neighborhood also known as Sleepy Hollow with a decades-long tradition of lavish holiday light displays that can attract more than 1,000 vehicles an hour during peak periods, will again host the informal event despite limits on public gatherings during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The City Council this week unanimously approved a slightly tweaked traffic and parking plan. That plan was first implemented last year in a bid to reduce chronic traffic jams that clog the valley-shaped neighborhood’s dark and winding streets and can impede emergency vehicle access.

Instructions from the City of Torrance:

For several years, residents in the Seaside Ranchos neighborhood in Torrance have elaborately decorated their homes for the holidays. The annual neighborhood coordinated light display in the Seaside Ranchos area of Torrance is not a city-sponsored nor a city-sanctioned event.  The decision to do, or not to do, these displays is entirely upon each of the homeowners and the City is not in any way involved in that decision-making process. Over the years, this neighborhood event has attracted large crowds and has created potential safety hazards. Although not a City event, the City of Torrance does have an obligation to address public safety concerns. This page is meant to answer questions for both residents and visitors related to the Seaside Holiday Lights Display.

UPDATE: The Sleepy Hollow Yelp Page says that it is closed.
